Ferocactus fordii is known for its compact growth habit and colorful spines.
It originates from the Pacific coast of Baja California (Mexico), where it grows in coastal areas on sand dunes and grasslands.
The funnel-shaped flowers are pinkish-purple to lilac and reach a length of 3 to 3.5 cm. They can have a delicate scent of cyclamen and appear on plants with a diameter of approximately 7 cm.
