The genus Gymnocalycium is native to South America.
The species ochoterenae originates from Argentina, Cordoba Province and San Luis Province, and grows at altitudes of 500 to 1500 meters.
The light pink flowers, which reach up to 4.5 cm in diameter, are particularly beautiful.
