The home of this beautiful plant is in the Peruvian mountains near Acolla and was found there by the Czech cactus collector Karel Knize at 3500m.
The dark green body has only a few tight spines.
The tulip-shaped flowers typical of this genus originate from the upper areoles. The single flower is not larger than 3 cm, is pink on the outside and yellow on the inside.
