This Rebutia is native to the South American Andes, in the Potosi Province in Bolivia and the Salta and Jujuy provinces in northwestern Argentina. It grows there on slopes at altitudes of 1,500 to 4,000 meters. It is also known as a variety of Rebutia haagei.
The flowers reach a diameter of 55 mm. They are salmon-colored with a slightly stronger central stripe and a lighter center.
