These plants, known under the name "living stones", come from South Africa.
There only the upper leaf surface of the plant head looks out of the earth.
This leaf surface consists of transparent and opaque parts that form bizzare patterns.
The sunlight penetrates the plant through the transparent areas.
In autumn, the yellow or white flowers appear from the crack in the heads.
